These portraits had been produced during the last two years. The people portrayed belong to different religions and nationalities (Germany, Morocco, Russia, United States, Brazil, India, United Kingdom and Spain).
When I took the photograph, I asked them to close their eyes and if they believed in God, try to communicate with him in a direct way, without any praying or learned rituals.
We have been told that it is possible to communicate with God through specific practices like chants, words or thoughts. This illusory experience can be comforting, but it is an autosuggestion.
Maybe the truth can’t be invoked through magic words; and we can only grasp it if our senses were not stunted by dogma.
Communication with God may be possible without intermediaries, a dialogue without religions, without delegating in others the conversation that you can only have with yourself.
